Having several Mosin-Nagants with standard hardwood stocks, I'm thinking of getting one with a laminated stock (to kind of complete the collection). Compared to regular wood, what were/are the advantages of laminated furniture? I'm guessing durability and cost are the two primaries. Or did the Russians go to this for some other reason?
