I have wanted to buy a set of Crimson Trace laser grips, but have reservations about how well they would hold up to extreme heat and cold. I have to leave my carry gun in my vehicle's glove box while at work (12 hours), and worry about the affects of the hot and cold on the batterys. Anybody have any trouble with their laser grips after extended periods in the hot or cold?

I did a study a few years back regarding temperatures in automobiles for the purpose of protecting digital camera gear and battery packs for big flash units.

In the end my conclusion was that "blocked from direct sun" such as in the trunk or other compartment made a significant reduction in the temperatures an object would face. However the BEST temperature reduction was if the object was inside an insulative layer and then out of direct sunlight. The methods used that produced the best results were...
-Wrapped in a thick wool blanket out of direct sunlight.
-Placed inside a zipped closed fleece "rug" (kind of like a gun rug) out of direct sunlight.
-Placed inside a styrofoam cooler out of direct sunlight.
-Placed in an el-cheapo zip up soft sided cooler out of direct sunlight.

As far as in-car temperatures all of the above had similar results and kept the equipment between 20 and 35 degrees cooler than the interior of the automobile passenger compartment.

Don't know if this will help you or not.

I keep a flashlight in the car for years at a time, and do occasionally experience battery problems, but it's a long, long time for it to happen.

The lithium button cells used in CT Laser Grips are generally 2032's.

They have a Temperature Range rating of -40° to +140° F.

Lithium cells last Longer in the Cold.

Don't worry about it.
