Cut things close this year! I only had the opprotunity to hunt the first two and last three days of season this year(west river south dakota), and though I typically have an "any deer" tag, this year I had a whitetail only tag. Typically, this would be a slight problem, as we have far more mule deer on our ranch than whitetails, and I typically have concentrated my efforts on mule deer. Saw tons of deer, both whitatail and mulie, but never got a shot at either of the ones I really wanted. However, fate intervened at the last minute, and with less than 10 minutes of light (and season) left, I was given an opprotunity to shoot this guy! Not as big as a few of the deer I saw, but I'm quite happy with him, especially under the circumstances! He's actually a 6x7, but you can't harly tell that in the pics....he has a cheater point on one of the bases, and one browtine is forked, making a total of 13 points!
