Is that a magpul front flip up sight on the gas block? I've heard and easily believe that they will melt or warp if mounted on a gas block as they do get very hot.

Yes it is and I will most likely move it down onto the Handguard

I've got an Adams mid-length upper that has had some reliability issues with regard to leaks around the gas block leading to short stroking. My conversion with the clamp-on gas block has been 100% reliable, the only problem has been with the factory upper with the pinned gas block. It only does it when it gets semi-hot. Something to look out for.
