Does anybody have a list or a link of the standard issue handguns of the major law enforcement agencies, police departments, and state police / highway patrols in the US ? (i.e. who issues what)

Also does anybody know of any agency -besides corrections- that still issue revolvers routinely ?

Thanks in advance

I think the NYPD still has the greatest number of revolvers in service out of all the PD's in the country. Many others use them as BUG's.
FBI & CIA still use them too.

It should be noted that as NYC police grandfathered with revolvers retire the number will diminish until there are no more left. All new hires must use semi-autos. Also I believe NYC doesn't issue, but individual police must buy their own approved handgun.

Don't think any federal agency still approves revolvers unless the SEALs still use them for special purposes.

An FBI agent who is a member on the S&W forum says that the Bureau no longer authroizes ANY revolvers, even for backup or off duty use.

A few years ago, Massad Ayoob did a few articles detailing which state police used which guns, but they are probably now out of date. I know of no similar effort.

Texas DPS uses SIG-P-226 and P-229 .357 SIG autos. However, Rangers can carry pretty well what they want. I think the Highway Patrolmen have to use the issue piece.
