I have read that they are inherently inaccurate. Any one use them with marginal success?

Might make an OK option for shooting inside the house when it's super cold outside. I wonder what kind of groups can be achieved @ 10 yards?

Do they cost guns precision because they go supersonic? Maybe keep them @ 500 FPS for better accuracy?

Suggestions/ Thoughts.

They sell because so many folks believe high FPS means better.
For the Scouts, we buy the least expensive we can find as the Scouts will go through thousands in a weekend camporee and frankly, the inexpensive ones shoot as good as the Scouts can shoot using our tired Crossmans.

In my old Benjamin, I get my best accuracy at 2 to 3 pumps on a gun where 5 is the max, so I know I am under maximum velocity...and the lead pellets shoot as good as the fancy lead free in this old gun.

I think there are sort of 2 different types of lead free, the ones trying to be fast and the ones which are lead free to be lead free.

If you look at a place like Pyramid Air you'll find some which are not meant to be super fast and weigh about what a lead pellet would weigh, those get pretty good reviews. The ones meant to be fast and light I had not had any luck with either, skirt doesn't fit into the barrel as it should and accuracy is horrible. With the lead free ones weighing more in line with std pellets I have had pretty good luck. Have to order them though, don't see them in any store I have been in.

I use them for entertainment only, to see how fast they go and to shoot thru coins and misc other things. Cost is a big deterrent for me, then how the gun shoots them. Most of mine guns shoot them too fast. If the speed is reasonable then your gun may shoot them fine, but only shooting will tell since each gun is different. The new H&N Excite line has a cool looking one which based on looks and weight would be my first choice, it looks like a heavy JSB.

I was going to try some.

But I couldn't find a single good review or test on any of them.

I bought some to try. I did not get the PBA style blinged out in gold. I just got the lead free. I want to shoot in the house without any possibility of contamination. I know the inherent if risks of airguns and lead are low, I just want to be extra safe. I will try to see how 7 or 8 guns shoot them at medium speeds 400 -500 fps. All of my testing will be .177

Should have a report in a week or so.

I've used Barracuda Power and Barracuda Greens in three or four of my guns. I've not found them to be "inherently" accurate.

The search for an accurate pellet seems to be like Wheel of Fortune. I spin the wheel and go through a bunch of different pellets...eventually one stands out as THE most accurate.

The lead free pellets were decent, but have never been the most accurate out of my guns.

I don't shoot any of the really lightweight stuff that's designed for maximum velocity. It's too noisy...sounds like a .22 LR going off in my backyard...which is the opposite of what I want.

I will say this though...and I don't know if it has any real-world application for you...I pulled a bunch of pellets from my pellet trap last month, and the lead free pellets look perfect. There is no deformation on the vast majority of them. If that's all you shoot, and you shoot into a "soft" pellet trap like rubber mulch...you might be able to reshoot them.
