leaving for africa monday for a hunt, this is my fourth hunting trip to africa and maybe my last as i,m damn near 73, i,ve been a very lucky man as i have had good health over the years and don,t take any drugs yet. i have killed most of the animals i have wanted to, from cape buffalo to dikker and am only looking to get a red hartabeast and a larger blue wildabeast and maybe a few meat animals along the way. eastbank.

Good luck and have fun! I always enjoy your pictures after you return. Be safe!

Make sure to document this trip with photos! I would love to see them! Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much does a trip like this cost a person in total after taxidermy and expenses etc? If this question is something you would rather not answer, please don't hesitate to tell me this is none of my business!

I've made 3 trips to South Africa. After everything, air fare, taxidermy and bunches of animals, less than $10,000. Also, the shortest time I stayed was 2 weeks.

WOW! Thats actually a lot less than I expected it to be. How is the culture while you're there? And the food??

I was quite happy with the food and the culture is fine; if it hadn't been, I wouldn't have gone back.

Yea, and you get your laundry done daily. When you shoot something, you have a cold drink and the camp staff takes care of retrieval, skinning, etc.

There is a lot of game over there but hunting is different from here. You pay for everything you shoot or wound.

They have a big cull scheduled at a bombing range because the game has expanded way beyond the carrying capacity.

3000 springbok rams and 1500 gemsbok are scheduled to be killed. That's a lot of meat. All game meat is legal to sell over there.

The country of South Africa is very first world. The hunting camps are very comfortable and the food is outstanding.

May your aim be true, your camp fires warm, and your memories to last a lifetime!!

Good hunting eastbank. Looking forward to hearing about it when you return (and pictures too)

Hope you have a great trip and post some pics! Hopefully I can get over there one day.
