This is the 1926-vintage 16 Gauge I picked up a few weeks ago:
The stock has been modified. The originals had a lot of drop, so someone, at some point, added a high comb. The comb is well-matched to the buttstock wood, but the sides are vertical and it's a tad narrow. It's also too high for me.
Any thoughts about what to do with it?
I could shave it to match the comb and angle of a standard buttstock like a modern Beretta. Or I could change the angle of the comb. It could be almost Weatherby rifle style, or I could shave it down to resemble the original angle, with a little less drop at the comb.
Since I have some wood to work with, I have options.
Thoughts?
