Left handed bolt action for right handed shooter ???

You might think I am weird, but...

does anybody make a left handed bolt action to be used for right handed shooters?
Being more of a pistol shooter than a rifle shooter, I always felt more comfortable leaving the right hand on the grip and manipulating the action with the left or support hand.
Perfect would be a right hand stock with a pistol grip or at least a thumbhole and a left hand action. One could continue to look through the scope with the shooting eye, cycle the action with the left hand and peek into the action with the left eye.
I guess one could built something but I wonder if someone else has thought about this or even manufactured it?
What are the best left hand actions?
To make sure, I still like to shoot the rifle normally - right hand on the grip/trigger pulled into the right shoulder, left hand on the stock in front.

you know I posted a thread like this a while back after watching a left handed sniper shoot 4 rounds in what seemed like 1 second with a M40 bolt action .308 (right handed rifle) - had me thinking about buying a left bolt gun for my right handed self

BTW: he held four shots at 800yards grouped smaller than the bottom of a Red Bull can

They are fairly common amongst benchrest shooters who want to load their (single shot) bolt actions with the least disturbance to their position and pretty rapidly as such things go.

I shoot left-handed because I'm left-eye dominant, but I've shot right-handed bolt actions ever since I got into bolts. From the bench, as common as it's said to be for the stated reasons, it always seemed like more of a PITA to me so I went and picked up a left-handed bolt action and I consider it a big improvement for me. YMMV

Cobb Mfg's 50 Cals are all left handed bolts. I can actually say it sounds like an interesting idea to me.

Mustanger98 – I know what you mean. I shot my first deer from a tree stand having to move the rifle to the left shoulder and trying to find the scope with the right eye!

-C4- - Those Cobbs are semi autos, not bolt actions, right? I always thought the ‘controls’ of a auto should be on the left side a la HK G3,MP5 so you can leave your right hand on the pistol grip but most manufactures place them on the right side.

Wouldn't be too hard to fit a right hand stock to it. Blazer, I think they are Sig now, rifles can be configured by the owner to either hand. I shoot left handed and have never had a problem with right hand rifles......chris3

Like with most other threads, I usually think of something I didn't think of when I first posted on a particular topic. Now, when I said that about myself shooting right handed bolts, notice I said they're not all that pleasant for me to deal with across the bench. From standing, it don't make a lot of difference to me because I take the rifle down from my shoulder and rebuild my position, but that's not benchrest.

Thinking on this topic reminds me of a couple of custom sporters I saw around locally- they were right-handed Remingtons and they had a stock to fit a right-handed action, but they had the left-handed Monte Carlo cheek piece. Looked odd, but it'd work for somebody with my hand/eye situation. But that's different to a right-handed shooter wanting a left-handed bolt.

And this brings me to the most ambidextrous rifles ever designed... H&R 1871 HandiRifles which are available in a variety of popular chamberings. Prices are decent too.

This is funny, cuz I just made a similar post about how it seems to me like a good idea to shoot guns designed for the opposite shooting hand. Like for me, I'm a righty, but left eye dominant, and actually prefer shooting lefty, with a righty gun.

Ive seen some left-handed shooters manipulate the bolt of a right-handed rifle VERY fast.

If you want to spend serious money and get a seriously fine rifle, Nesika Bay will make you an action that has the bolt on one said and the ejection port on the other, as well as conventional set-ups. They ain't cheap!! An action is easily $1200 but you get a work of art in stainless or chrome-moly steel for that and you'll never wear it out. Many a fine target rifle has been built on the Nesika action-- those 1000-yard guys know...
