I have a contender pistol frame, was built and sold, and boght from thompson center as a pistol. I have a 22 long rifle match chamber pistol barrel and was wondring about the legality of using my carbine rifle stock with said barrel.

it would be a 14 inch barrel on a rifle stock with a frame registered as a pistol. is this illegal before i go toting it off to the range. much appreciated guys and gals.

Absolutely illegal. You would have to apply to the ATF to make a short barreled rifle, pay the $200 tax, and then it would be legal. Or you could buy a 16" barrel.......

cool thanks, thought it better to ask more knowlegdable fellows than myself, I am no prone to commiting firearm related felonies and thought it in opportune time to begin:D

You could have a +2" flash suppressor or compensator threaded to your 14" .22 barrel, making it +16". But it would likely be smarter/cheaper just to buy a T/C .22 rifle barrel. Then you're good to go.

Threading alone wont meet the standard. The comp or suppressor would have to be permanently attached.

I hope you have at least one rifle-length barrel to go with your pistol frame and rifle stock...
