Legalizing MJ in a state that requires 4473s for ALL firearms transactions.

New York State just made marijuana legal. I just want to point out for my fellow New Yorkers that marijuana is still federally illegal and that firearms transactions in the state require a 4473 regardless of where you buy the weapon. Lying on a 4473 is perjury and could get you hemmed up.

Do what you want I can’t tell you what to do but please be careful if you want to enjoy both past times.

If the Feds wanted to make a big deal of it I'm betting there are an awful lot of people out there who possess firearms that are also unlawful users of marijuana at the federal level and lied on their 4473. Local law enforcement can't act on it but they can make a referral...

Just because it's legal doesn't mean people have to do it. I know several people who were long time users that quit when it became legal. go figure.

Its been legal here in Illinois for over a year, I only know one guy who "enjoys both past times ". He hasn't had an issue but he did mention his info is entered into a data base when he buys the devil's lettuce . I'd certainly not risk my 2a rights to get dumber and smell bad so I skip the left handed tobacco .

The warning is a good one. However, we don't want to discuss the pros and con of marijuana or discussing knowing folks who have violated the law (or whether you did).
