I'm soon going to be running a tabletop roleplaying campaign where the PCs will be federal agents from various departments brought together as a "spot solution". They'll be attached to various local branches of various federal law enforcement agencies.
The question I have have to do with the way federal law enforcement agencies store and issue long guns and full-auto firearms.
-When are these kinds of weapons deployed? What kinds of situations call for an AR-15 or an M-16 or a Colt 9mm carbine? Hostage standoffs, high-risk entries, or what?
-When are they issued and to whom?
-Are these stored in some kind of central armory (the local field office) or issued to specific vehicles? Both?
-If so, when are you supposed to bring them back?
