Holy spotting scopes, batman!
I ordered this for our combined Mother's & Father's Day gift:

To say I am impressed is an understatement. The optics are very, very sharp. My wife has never used really good optics. She was jazzed at the quality of the image.
I have not tried it in reduced light conditions, but I am sure it won't be as good as a large-objective spotting scope (60-80mm). The physics are working against it.
But...
Make a fist with your hand. Take a good look at it. That is just about the size of the body of this spotting scope. Tack on the eyepiece and objective and you have a good idea of its dimensions. In addition, it is quite light.
Our purpose in buying this is primarily for critter observation while hiking. Second, it will serve as a range & hunting spotting scope. We will need to pick up a hiking tripod & a table tripod to get the best use of it.
Did I mention that with my C&R03*, the puppy was $70 less than retail? After shipping & NRA round-up, it was a smidgen under $240. For a Leupold, American-made optic with a lifetime warranty. Yeah, buddy!
* Even if I never bought another C&R frearm, I would still have a C&R03 for Brownells & Midway purchases.
Daddy & Mommy did good this year.
