leupold shotgun scope on a 45/70

I'm considering taking my 3x9 off of my 45/70 and putting on one of the vxI shotgun scopes. My question, will a shotgun scope stand up to the 45/70 recoil? Any personal experiences with this.

FWIW, it'll be put on a 1895 guide gun that I'd like to use for woods work again, the 3x9 was what I had laying around and decided to go scope instead of irons on this gun.

Should work very well.

The only difference is in where the factory sets the parallax. Rifles are at 150yrds, shotgun I believe is at 75yrds.

You also typically get more eye relief with a shotgun scope. I really like em for this type of application.
