I'm considering taking my 3x9 off of my 45/70 and putting on one of the vxI shotgun scopes. My question, will a shotgun scope stand up to the 45/70 recoil? Any personal experiences with this.

FWIW, it'll be put on a 1895 guide gun that I'd like to use for woods work again, the 3x9 was what I had laying around and decided to go scope instead of irons on this gun.

The only difference is in where the factory sets the parallax. Rifles are at 150yrds, shotgun I believe is at 75yrds.:)

You also typically get more eye relief with a shotgun scope. I really like em for this type of application.
