Leupold VX-Freedom vs. American Marksman

So is it correct to say that the VX-Freedom is the new name for the VX2, and the American Marksman is the new VX1 line? Just from the pricing, this seems reasonable.

I think that's correct. I have a 1-4 VX-2 that's very clear and a really nice optic. I tried to find another one but they are discontinued. Closest I could find is a Freedom. I've looked at them and I don't think they are the same quality.:( VX-3 would be my entry level now.

Cabela's has their American Marksman on sale again this year for $159.99. I bought one again to go with the one I grabbed last year. I don't think they can be beat at that price. (And I do own a few other Leupolds, VX-2, VX-3, and Mark IV LRT).

Get them while you can! One hundred sixty bucks for a Leupold, that's a deal. I will be checking for some 4 - 12X deals. Last year I bought a Vortex 4-12 at Cabelas, it was on sale. Good scope. I installed it on my newly rebarreled M70.
