So I get home from work yesterday and my wife totally surprises me with a gift... A Limited Edition Smith&Wesson 686-6 4" from Lew Horton, complete with the coiled snake and the "Don't Tread on Me" engraving.

I don't know what I do to deserve her, but I'm a lucky man to have her. This gun is nice, but she's wonderful.

Oh, she also produced a box of 158-gr JSPs and a cold 12-pack of Heinekens! :p

Another story about her and my occasional gun purchases...

She always calls me on my cell phone during my lunch hour. One time I was in my favorite gun shop when I answer her call. Goes like this:

"hello?"

"Whatcha doin?"

"I'm in Byford's... just shootin' the sh*t."

"You aren't buying anything?"

"Nope."

"Okay... bye."

Two days later.... she calls again and I'm in the same gunshop.

""Whatcha doin'?"

"I'm in Byford's again."

"Whatever you're looking at, just bring it home."

"Naw, I'm just killing time."

"Well, you've been in there twice this week. Surely you've got your eye on something. Just get it."

"Honey, it appeals to me but this really isn't necessary..."

"If you don't buy it right now, I'll be in there this Saturday asking what it is you've been coming back to look at and (if they tell me) I'll buy it for you anyway so you may as well just go ahead and get it today.

In the last two years she's surprised me with a cruise to Cozumel and a weekend trip to the Biltmore Estate in N.C.

She's just incredible, and I cannot imagine what I did to deserve her.........

Great present. You best keep her.

On a side note, first the full lug, now a picture of a snake. When are they going to go all the way and put a rib on the barrel?

This post brought a tear ro my eye. Now if we could only get our wives together and have yours put a positive influence on mine!!! Oh nice revolver. Enjoy!

Majic~

I haven't completely warmed up to the engraved snake yet; all of my firearms get shot and are "purpose" or working guns. This will get shot too. No safe queens here! Besides, she wants to see me enjoying it.

I happen to like the full lug on revolvers with 2"-4" barrels, and even own a Model 14-6 that looks good IMO.

But if you mean a vent rib I hope S&W never does that...

The medallion DymondWood grips are so much nicer than the Hogue rubbers that most current S&W revolvers now come with. I think she did pretty well seeing that she knows absolutely nothin' about firearms.

As a side note...

Tomorrow morning I am going to go shoot this revolver and de-value it significantly.

We shot one round each thru it the evening she gave it to me. Now we're gonna get it dirty!

This is my only stainless steel revolver (I have a bunch of older blue-steel-and-wood S&Ws without the lock) and I'm excited to shoot it.

Wanna bet "the lock" isn't an issue? Wanna bet that it always go BANG?

Where did I put those keys?????? Dang, now i can't lock it! Isn't that what we're supposed to do with lockable sidearms?

Guess I'm not following the program our gubmint wants us to follow.........
