44brent,

Well, you may be the exception that proves the rule.:)

I am in agreement with those on this forum who are concerned about viiolations of privacy and the putative criminalization of those whose reading doesn't fit accepted guidelines. We need to be very, very careful about encroachments upon our liberties.

I do think the handling of adult material in certain libraries, based on what I have seen, is pretty scandalous, though. It is possible to more effectively screen X-rated material from sensitive viewers, especially children.

Just because something may not be specifically protected by the constitution, such as most forms of privacy. It does not mean we don't have a right to it.

I am in complete agreement. Therein lies one of the biggest problems with this country. The belief that if it is not specifically "enumerated" (see Ninth Amendment) in the Constitution, you do not have that right. The Bill of Rights does not give us any rights. You can't pick and choose your amendments ( see Second Amendment ) to suit your own purposes. It's an all or none proposition.

If you can't understand that, you are part of the problem.

I find myself in the uncomfortable position of agreeing with Ralph Nader on the Patriot Act. Its a bit like having to kiss him on the lips.

This POS act is antithetical to the American way and the Constitution. Ben Franklin is fairly screaming in my ear. I can hear him but most Americans are saying "Ben who?"
