I have come up with a load for my .243 that is VERY accurate (sub .25") at 150 yards. It uses a 55gr Sierra SP bullet and 41.5gr of IMR-4320. Will this bullet work on coyotes? I have killed several coyotes with a 55gr Hornady bullet in my .223. Anyone have any experince using light 6mm bullets on coyotes? Thanks for any info.

Yep,...I've pushed them over 4000fps. Same bullet with IMR-4350 or 4320 is awesome accurate for me as well. I have killed a couple of 'yotes with that load. DRT with no exit wound.

over here a lot of guys use 55 gr v-max on fox. it is a great bullet, mega destructive.

i have used sierra 80 gr pro hunter and found them to be good aswell

There is a varmint hunter website I used to visit from time to time. When the 55s first came out, the hide-hunter crowd extolled the virtues, talking about instant kills and no exit wound.

Yes it will kill one great, in fact try to envision the Tazmanian devil and anything it contacts and you have a predicted image of what the 55 grain bullet out of a .243 will do to a coyote inside of 200 yards.

Strangely enough I had one exit a dog at 60', bullet went in while facing me on the right half of it's chest and exited the left half of it's rib cage (55 gr. Sierra blitzking at 3700 fps [chronographed] in front of 44.0 gr. IMR 4895).

it will kill the coyotes quick and easy but its probably no hide saver but then again a 243 isn't known for its gentle reaction to varmint skins
