A lot of people don't get a headache running a four function calculator to do basic multiplication and division.

With the exception of kinetic energy, all of the authors of the above metrics only developed their particular metric in an attempt to comparatively quantify and explain what they were seeing in the real world. They weren't making up numbers to sell ammo, they were trying to explain why one cartridge performed one way, and another cartridge in another way. We see the age old discussion about a .30-06 vs a 45-70, or a 45 vs a 9mm... Folks investigated because they saw something happening in the real world, and came up with their flavor of an explanation. If you're content to believe the world is flat, and have trouble figuring the tip on a supper tab, I can appreciate discussing these metrics isn't of interest.
