Would appreciate recommendations for light loads for 9mm using 124 gr LRN.

Use will be indoor range between 10 and 25 yards.

I have the following powders to try:

Clays

Winchester 231

Power Pistol

I have not, and do not plan on using Clays, but read on castboolits.com that 2.6 grains got 912 fps from a BHP.

I use 4-4.2 grains of WW231 with the 124 cast bullets with good results, and have recently been working up Power Pistol loads. Alliant technical help said to start at 4.8 for about 1130 fps, and 5.2 grains for 1200fps. I tried these, but think better accuracy is to be had going slower, so the other day I loaded some at 4.2 grains and will try them out next week.

If you can try Unique, I suggest you do. The stuff has been magical for me using cast bullets in a lot of calibers, and "just works".

4.0 of Titegroup made nice light 124-gr 9mm loads but would not cycle the action sometimes on a KelTec Sub2000 carbine.

Same can be done with the W231 at about 4.0 grains.

We've had a bunch of threads like this lately, if you're of a mind to search a bit and see what options you have.

I use 4gr of Unique under a 125gr RN; it makes for a decent load that's not too harsh, doesn't lead things up, but cycles the action with vigor.

IMO you already have the perfect powder on hand for light to medium 9mm rounds using a 124/125gr LRN bullet and that's W231. I charge 4.1gr W231 under a 124gr/125gr LRN bullet for my son's target rounds shot in a Taurus PT-111 Pro. If you are using a gun with a heavy slide you might want to push the charge up to 4.3gr or even 4.4gr. You will find that W231 is a very clean and accurate powder and my son thinks it's a great target/plinking round.

9mmx19 using cast lead and 231 have worked fine for me in the past.
