I use powder thru expanders on my LnL AP. Recently the linking arm (Hornady calls it the Measure Link) that fastens my powder measure to the quick change base stretched where the knurled screw goes through. I called Hornady, where they acted surprised and sent me a couple of new ones. The new one did fine through a couple K 45acp, but when I switched to 44mag the Link self-destructed per the photo below. I figure I'm not the Lone Ranger, so somebody has figured a cure. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you didn't adjust the height of the measure inside the bushing before switching to a longer case? I'd have imagined that the case would have crushed before that link bent.

I've got an AP... I have no idea how on earth you coulda bent that... well, at least you have another part. Something, somewhere, must be misadjusted or not right.

The drop tube wasn't threaded all the way into the measure. Had about three threads showing. I'm guessing pressure on the expander was excessive, and the link gave before the brass did. Or something. Anyway, I've readjusted things and hope it doesn't happen again.

I looked at mine, still not sure how having the powder drop tube screwed out too far could cause this... if anything, the brass should crumple, or the measure would just not ever "sit down" all the way... that must have just been a real week piece of steel (hey, stuff happens)...

I think the slot in the bottom hole weakens it considerably. While waiting for the factory part I made a temporary replacement out of 1/8" aluminum stock. Not particularly strong stuff, but I drilled a bottom hole without the slot, and it works fine.
