Hi to every one.

This is my first post on this thread and I need some info.

I have loaded and cast for a S&W 29 8&3/8 barrel for 20 plus years but I just bought the Marlin in 44mag and loading data is hard to find for this application.

I think (???) I have decided to buy a bulk pack of Nosler 200gr hp and start loading for this rifle. Sence it has a 20" barrel could I stick to the pistol data and be ok?

I also have a old Lyman 2 cavity 240gr Elmer Keith semi waddcutter design I thought might start casting for again with wheel weights like I used to.

Please respond I want to shoot this baby.

Thanks to all Mike.

Anything loaded for a .44 Mag handgun will work in a .44 Mag carbine. Remington and Winchester factory ammo does not distinguish what it is to be used in, and they are used by many in both rifles and pistols. If you are using cast bullets, you want to keep velocities on the low end to prevent leading in the barrel. If they have gas checks, velocities can be somewhat higher. I use 180 grain Hornady XTP over 15 grains of Blue Dot for a light, non-recoiling load for a friend's 9 year old in his 1894 Marlin. I use H110 for full power loads. H110 is ideal in the .44 Mag. Note, Winchester 296 is the same stuff as H110. Hope this helps.
