Hi all,
So what are you guys paying for cast and jacketed bullets in your neck of the woods? What are the retail stores in your towns selling them for? Seems like I'm hearing prices have really escalated on the east and west coasts.
I've heard some pretty major players in the bullet world are really raising or going to raise prices. Are you guys stocking up right now expecting prices to go higher or waiting for prices to go down again.

I'm a commercial bullet caster and am hearing a lot about high lead prices right now and was just wanting to see how much it is actually effecting my fellow reloaders / shooters out there.

Best Regards, Gabe- wyomingcastbullets.com

Everything is going to go up, that is the nature of the game. People who panic are generally the ones who continue to cause supply problems and force prices even higher. The price of lead (and all metals) has actually decreased a little as the decline in construction has slowed dramatically.

Having said that, it is never a bad idea to have plenty, if for no other reason than I hate running out when I'm in the process of loading, and running out always seems to happen at the most inopportune moments.

Local prices are way too high. I was at Gander Mountain last night and almost had a stroke. The Speer .44 bullets I use are almost $30.00/100. Same bullets are less than $18.00/100 on the web.

prices are what I paid at my last purchase in may 07' and were bought in plastic bags of 200/, they may be higher now due to lead price increases:

9mil .356 125gr LRN were $6.30/200 pack
.358 158 LSWC were $6.80/200
.401 155gr LRN were $6.80/200, I bought a lot of these, my XD doesn't shoot them well.
.401 180gr LSWC were $7.20/200, I tried these and my XD puts them in little bitty groups.
.411 210gr LSWC were $9.80/200
.451 200gr LSWC were $10.25/200 don't know why they were higher than the 210gr .411s.
.452/.454 255gr LSWC were $12.50/200
.459 405gr LRN were $10.80/100 as of 8-13-07;

I couldn't say what jacketed pistol bullets are running, can't remember the last time I bought any.

priced the .458 300gr and 405gr and they were running from $29 to $35/100 at sportsmans warehouse.

.308 150gr and 165gr BTSP/SP hornadays run approx $19 to $23/100.

.224 $68grBTHP approx $14.50/100.

Hi Gabe - I haven't seen your 45 acp offerings for quite a while - mostly other calibers...any particular reason? I've still got a bunch from the 6k I bought from you, just curious.

Local casters are at $25 - 28 / 500 of 45 200gr SWC...plus tax ... with the price of gas plus the local taxes, it makes shipping from out of state w USPS pretty attractive.

I've been looking all over the web the last few days and it seems there are some fair deals out there and some deals that make me say to myself... holy cow... do they think people will really pay that.

If I was a kid again with my weekly $1 allowance and the money I could get from skins. I don't think I could shoot nearly as much as I'd like... I'd definately have to cut out the occasional candy bar. Ah, I'd have found a way... I guess we all do in a pinch. But we don't have to like it right?

Some of the lead suppliers I've talked with recently want more for there lead per pound than we or other bullet casters sell our bullets for. Got me thinking I should be melting down our bullets and becoming a lead supplier and selling lead in ingots... Thought it... not going to do it. Not as much fun throwing lead bars around the yard.

Bryan. Good to hear from you. Hope you have as much fun shooting our stuff as much as we do making it. You know now that you mention it buying out of state on the web would be cheaper for a lot of people... I tend to forget the stuff I buy local does have tax added and driving anywhere adds up fast.

Thanks all and keep the feedback coming in... it's good to know what's going on in your neck of the woods.
Best Regards, Gabe

There's a lot of panic buying going on right now, and not only are prices very high, but in many cases the product is just not available. I just got some cowboy bullets from Penn last week that I ordered ~ 3mo ago. It seems like the small-to-mid sized operators are way to busy, and customer service is slipping.

With the commodity prices going up, and a Presidential election in a lot of people's minds, panicky people stock up. Not me though. Nosiree. Not a bit of it. Nothing to see here, move along.

Local lead guy wants $112 for a 62 pound ingot of 92/6/2, so when I run out of my pathetic little stash of lead, I'll have to save for a while to restock. Asit is, last time I bought bullets, I paid $12.99 plus tax for Hornady 125gr .357dia 125gr XTP JHP. On the other hand the 7.62x39mm 123gr SP Hornady's were over $24 at the time. Haven't opened the box yet, it might become more valuable than gold!

anybody have a phone number for Gabe!! sounds like a guy you could do business with......Echo...out

What's all the fuss about? I'm still buying Nosler 135gr .400 jhp in 250 count boxes for $25 a box. Thats like a dime a shot, not too bad.
