I am pretty sure it's completely legal to auction off a gun at a local charity event, but I just want to make sure.

In a couple of weeks we are going to have an auction to raise money for a Flying Club outside of Ocala and one of the items being donated is a Ruger Blackhawk, can anyone think of reason why it wouldn't be okay to auction the revolver off? It would be a private transfer so no FFL required? Right?

A long time ago I attended a firearms auction. I searched whether the auctioneer had to have an FFL or not. It is circumstantial. You could contact Florida Auctioneers Association for state requirements & read this about federal regulations. I would start at the link because it talks about the auctioneers association.
