Hi, Just thought I would save some of you some trouble.

I bought a knive (the "Airborne Avenger II") online from assistedknives.com, It came fast, and was VeryWell built for the $$$. I showed my Grandpa and he wanted one, he gave me the $$ so I tried to order another. They were out of stock, so I ended up going with a similar looking knife the Airborne NATO.

It came a few days later, and was a pile of junk, it feels like the springs are about to fall apart, the handle is really heavy, and quality level is way below what I paid for.

so I send the owner an email

Hi, I ordered a knife a while back (Airbourne Avenger II Black OTF Double Action Switchblade Kit) and it has been my favorite knive, My grandpa liked it, and wanted one so I tried to order it from your webpage and the price had more than doubled, so I got a couple of Airbourne NATO Koncord OTF Double action kinves, and Im very disapointed in them I feel like they will fall apart, I was wondering If I could return these new unused knives for a Airbourne Avenger II Black OTF Double Action Switchblade Kit like I had orginally to give to my grandpa? Thanks- Ian

This is his reply

I don't do returns sorry, I do talk to people about things and this is why I have a Cheap **** Warning on my website, I can't get any more blatant about things.

Where is the shipment going and I will get you a discount on things if you need, let me know.
I felt there was a little confusion, so I emailed him back, at this point all i want is an exchange...

It would not be a return, only a exchange, they are still in plastic. I just wanted to exchange for the Airbourne Avenger II Black OTF Double Action Switchblade Kit, I guess Ill show else where

Here is what the joker sent me:

You'll shop elsewhere is what you mean, I take it.

Fine I don't lick people's asses just the way I am and nothing will change that.

If you want to talk to me like a human rather than some dip**** at McDonalds then feel free to speak otherwise you need to go elsewhere and I would rather have that happen then to have to deal with problematic people.

If you come back to planet earth, like I said, it is clearly stated All Sales Final on my website.

If you want some other item then you'll have to convince me not force me and start using some bull**** attitude for one.

If you want to exchange things then you pay all the shipping costs to everything because it was ultimately you that changed his mind not me and I did my part of the exchange. I also sell those models below what everyone else is selling them.

So ditch the attitude and then we can talk otherwise have fun shopping elsewhere.
:what::banghead::fire::barf:

Talk about customer service!!!!!! Wow! I love it when the owner of a company acts like this.... I will avoid him at all costs!!!!

Well unless you are an LEO/Military or he resides in the same state as you, you cannot ship the knives back to him, or if they are shipped back he can't give them back to you.

His terms are crystal clear, I don't know why you think you can ask for special treatment. He seemed quite reasonable and also seems to have offered you a discount on future sales to help keep things good.

Since you aren't posting the entirety of your 2nd email to him, we can't tell if his reply was out-of-line. For all we know, you could have been just as nasty -as his email seems to imply.

Lastly, what do you expect for a $21 MicroTech rip-off/knock-off? You are buying a knock-off from a guy who sells knock-offs -both parties deserve what they get.

Agreed. Just because you don't like how something feels, or it's too heavy, doesn't mean you get to return it and get a whole new something.

The guy is 100% clear on his site. ALL SALES FINAL. The exception is for obviously damaged merchandise, which will be returned and exchanged for an identical, undamaged item. Don't like it? You didn't have to buy from him.

This one's on you, my friend.

I thought I would sugest an exchange, I dident demand one or ask for special treatment.

That is the ENTIRE second email, infact that is all the emails up to this point!

I expect what I got last time! a $34 "cheap" knife that was a good knife. It has lasted me 5mo with everyday use, and just about saved my life when sailing and needed to cut a line with one hand. It is a very sturdy knife!

I ordered the next "on sale" item hopeing for a good knife, expecting something at least ok, and what I got was not worth the postage.

I showed all of every email, I was just warning people how nasty this guy gets when a simple question was asked, he could have just said, "no, Sorry, read the rules"

The problem with that, is that the man spells out that there will be no such thing. In fact, he puts it in pretty blunt terms, and in multiple spots on his site. Based on that, what made you think he'd all the sudden turn into a teddy bear and let you do what you wanted to do?

I ordered the next "on sale" item hopeing for a good knife, expecting something at least ok, and what I got was not worth the postage.

Ever heard the term "buyer beware"?

I swear to you, I'm not trying to be rude - but as the customer, it's your job to know what you're buying. If you don't know, be willing to take responsibility for what you get. I don't blame the man for not wanting to help you out - he's got no duty to. There are warnings all over his site about "Cheap S**T". You basically decided not only to buy some of that "Cheap S**t", but to spin the wheel and hope that you'd luck into something close to what you wanted. That's not his problem.

I was just warning people how nasty this guy gets when a simple question was asked.

That guy didn't all the sudden "get nasty". The guy is nasty. Two seconds reading his site is enough to make that quite apparent.

Iansstud, I apologize for making an assumption that you were rude.

Still, it is what you get for buying a $21 knock-off of a $300 OTF knife. I wouldn't trust it at all if I were you.

Well personally I appreciate the heads up. If those are the entire text of the emails, the owner is really out of line.

Regardless of the quality of the product, and store policy for that matter, it shouldn't be unreasonable to send an email or make a phone call and try to negotiate an exchange. On top of that, anyone with a decent sense of business doesn't respond in the manner in which the owner responded. Period.

I'm not sure if you'll have any luck with him.

I just looked over his store, and honestly, you're better off shopping elsewhere. His price on the S&W assisted open I own are far higher than the other online shops selling it. His prices are on the high side on numerous other items as well.

Dude, no offense, but you couldn't convinced me to buy anything, at any point, from that guy. His site just looks shady to begin with and then when you read some of the stuff he writes, he just very clearly isn't a guy I would ever do business with. Buyer Beware indeed.

I agree with the OP that there is something sorely lacking with this merchant's attitude. While he does state his sales terms there is no call for the reply that was given to his customer. There are a million places to do business out there. The only thing that separates Company X from Company Y is really customer service. As a self-employed person I realize there is a lot of competition so I try to provide customers with service that is above my competitors. Sometimes, this only amounts to providing free advice in a pleasant manner. There is no call to be a jack*** with customers unless they're being a jack*** with you first. Nothing in the OP's email correspondence indicated he was being out of line. The merchant should have politely told him "sorry, no refunds or exchanges and if you want to take your business elsewhere that's your decision." Thanks for the heads-up. Saving a couple of dollars on a cheap knife isn't worth doing business with someone like that.

Thanx for this thread. From now on, anytime anybody googles AssistedKnives.com this thread will pop up and everybody will see to not do business with this turkey. You actually should email this to him.

Hey, turkey! You reading this?!

I wouldn't buy from him, and he was unnecessarily rude but he does warn on his website that if you buy "cheap ****" you will get exactly that and to not expect a good knife for not much money which is more honest than a lot of sellers. The terms and conditions also state that all sales are final unless faulty, and specifically that there will be absolutely no exchanges on OTF kits which I believe is what you bought? And your knife isn't faulty from the sounds of it, it just sucks.

You'd have to pay for return postage anyway, so why not sell it? Heck, if you've assembled it yourself you should be able to break even.

I found the sight because they had the cheapest deal on the airborne/ ranger/ whatever someone wants to call the style of clone that i wanted... it turned out to be a awesome deal, and a awesome knife for the $$$ I wish I had ordered 3-4 at that price... I thought I would order the next one and it was a bad deal... so Ill end up tossing 2 crappy kinves that cost $40 with shipping... I dont even care that I got the crappy knives, or that he didnot give me an exchange... all I was concerned about was how I was treated over a simple question....
