If you're not a sport shooter,,,
And are only concerned with self defense,,,
That one revolver could easily be all you will ever need.

Congrats on your find.

Aarond.
You might be right and the OP might not need another gun BUT... I think the M36 should have at least one other classic friend to play with. :D

I love my 1 7/8 Chief , but the 3" is high on my bucket list. You paid a good sum , but I'd say it was worth it - given the desirability and rareness of the 3" Chief.

I'm with Mr. Johnson - keep the original grips and try a Tyler T Grip. I'd hate to see you put some after market grips on that classic!
If Tyler had online ordering, I'd have one on the way. Instead, I ordered a S&W rosewood boot grip; at least it's still S&W. ;-) I was thinking about another Badger in walnut, but the S&W was on sale.

I have the Md 12 and it is a very good carry gun and is a six shot and weight the same as the chief witch is a five shot

I would like to see the new grips on your Chief when the time comes

Andy! Congrats on a glorious score!

I have a J-frame on the way home in a few days. Would you be so kind as to post a link to the rosewood boot grips you're talking about? Thanks in advance.

:)

GREAT CATCH! I have a Model 36-1 in Nickle and it is a great shooter.

Personally, I think these revolvers excel as a woods walking gun. They are light weight, very accurate for their size, and if you handload, you can come up with some excellent loads for small game and general plinking. They are good defensively as well.

Very useful and fun revolver. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

Can I keep it?

Sure - if you PROMISE to feed it, clean up after it and train it properly.

Otherwise... remember how it went when you wanted that cat!?!

I dig it. Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Everybody knows that you spent too much until you tell them to put your money where their mouth is.

Todd.
