Hi guys,

I am looking for a mainspring housing for my 1911 that noone seems to have (or I can't find...)

I am looking for a flat, serrated mainspring housing WITH a lanyard loop in BLUE. I've seen checkered ones, but no serrated ones.

Anyone know where to get one?

Thanks

Numrich http://www.e-gunparts.com/ has or had them in any style you like; serrated flat and arched, loop or not.

I used a couple of them a while ago and they were alright once I'd made their pin holes
.1585" instead of the .1560 - .1565" they came with. I figured they were prob'ly metric and from some place far, far away.

KRS, The only thing I could find was this:

COLT
GOLD CUP NATIONAL MATCH SERIES 80
Item No. 927340
Mainspring Housing, Flat, w/ Lanyard Loop

Doesn't say if it's serrated or smooth, but it DOES say it's sold out....
*Sigh*

Can't believe it's this hard to find the part!

It's a good thread to ask this.

I have a Para GI Expert, and I wanted to know if there are any drop-in beavertail grip safeties that would work. I really don't know a lick about how to install one either.

Here is a pic that might help.

continuing the hijack ... here's a link to give you an idea of what's involved. Question #1 for Para is whether the tangs are cut to mostly closely fit a .250 or a .220 radius - the latter is the oddball that SA uses, harder to find a BT that will fit properly. Any BT is going to require some carving of the frame tangs and a refinish.

Chris, in Numrich's you have to look in places where you might not expect to find what you're looking for. Their stuff may have come from old Auto-Ordnance stock, for example, and not shown in the Colt section. Sometimes looking in the general US military, or the general 1911 pistol, or any number of places will turn up some gold. It's not always a place where you can find things exactly described or listed and in cases like this it's best to give them a call as NVMM suggests. They've got miles and piles of gun stuff - the biggest gun boneyard in the country probably.
