I've clicked around on Springfield, ParaOrd, STI, and even gunbroker.

Not going into why, but trying to find...

1911 with
0) Looking at full size or officers/sub size, would buy one of each possibly.
1) Light/Tactical rail (for my X250 (I think that's what it is... surefire light))
2) 9mm
3) Single or Double Stack
4) Night sights (or I will have to pay to install some)
5) Ambi-safety (or I will have to pay to install)
6) Black finish (ideally)
7) Will accept my Crimson Trace 1911 grips *edit* no double stack CT Grips exist!
8) Holster-able (IWB and OWB options would be nice).

the only thing close =
PXT Hawg Series: Lite Hawg 9 (RHX129E) 9mm 12+1 in black, which by capacity double stack (not sold on that idea, really like the feel of single stack...), and I would need to make sure Crimson Trace grips fit on it (would need to buy officers model CT grips if made, I have Government 1911 sized ones now).

Companies to look at? I will keep browsing now and post if I find anything.

Trying to keep the price reasonable...

Looks like I might have to go 'dedicated beside' for one gun and 'dedicated carry' for another... though I'd rather have 1x 2K gun than 2x 1k guns.

I'd be surprised if CT grips for a single stack will fit a double stack. VERY surprised.

The limiting factors on your search is the 9mm and light rail criteria. Finding one isn't hard. Both is hard. You could have a custom gun built with those specs (might be worth calling and asking Springfield about it), but the price is going to be pretty dear.

You might want to consider a Dawson Rail for a regular 1911. It doesn't look as "finished" as one with an integral rail, but it's probably the least expensive way to get a rail on a 9mm single stack.

The real limiter is CT grips and an ambi safety. I don't believe there's any way of working that out - same with CT and doublestack, although in theory that could happen if there was demand for it. The ambi safety is a case of two things needing to be in the same place.

If you have a rail though, how about a combo light/laser? That would open up your options for ambi / double stack.

With a spec out like that your best bet is a custom build, I'd second Fusion Firearms or look at getting a Baer built up like that.

If you prefer the feel of a single stack, I wouldn't sweat the capacity. Get some of the new Metalform elite 9mm mags based on the Tripp Cobra design - or the Cobras, both are good. They hold 10 rounds and run flawlessly.

I know you said you checked out STI but you may have missed this guy:

Fits most your criteria except for the sights, but they can be replaced. How important are the CT grips?

Can I add one more horrible criteria?

I would like to carry it... so I need a holster (IWB and probably one OWB) as well!

I currently run a Sig 1911 5'' Government in 45acp (GS, not GS[R], It's the all quality++ parts one) with the surefire x250, in a BladeTech (I think) IWB holster. Works okay.

I would rather not pay to for the laser/light combo, but will if I have to, but it needs to be holster-able! Again, would like to not pay out the nose a holster to hold that.

Lastly, EGW is about 20 minutes from me... might have to stop by there. =)

Looks like CT has NO double stack 1911 options...

Phoenix, if you could go with laser and use a handheld light, you could get a Lasermax guide rod laser for 1911s. Standard holster would work then.

Just spitballin'
