looking to buy new muzzleloader need advice

I have a old cva muzzleloader that is about 10-12 years old that I really hate just does not shoot very accurate at all. I also failed to take good care of cleaning it years ago when I first got it. The old cva I have is like a bolt action style that you have to pull the bolt out and stick the bar thru to pull the breach. I seen all the newer style muzzleloaders look allot nicer know. I am looking at dicks sporting goods and bass pro which is beter and why of each please. I only use it to deer hunt with. I also like the package ones that come with scope but does not have to I can always buy another scope.

If you're not going to clean it daily, you had better get one in stainless steel. It will still corrode but slower.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Optima but don't believe that it's a SS gun, just bright white.

Why don't you take one for the team and buy a Redemption rifle. The company is a spin off from the Thompson Center co. and they created a rifle with ease of cleaning paramount in their minds

I am planning on taking care of it better know but I also may go hunting with it anf want to keep it loaded for three weeks just pulling primer is this perfectly okay. I also have read good things about the optima I will check out the triumph. The redemption look nice just not sure I want to fork out that much.

That's how you got in trouble the 1st time. Unless you use Blackhorn 209 powder, moisture will collect and start corroding your barrel. I believe that Pyrodex is one of the worst culprits that causes corrosion. You need to unload and clean daily with it. Alot depends on the humidity in your area.
