I am starting my first AR build and I want to do it right and I also want to do it on a budget. I know you can't have your cake and eat it to so what I am going for is a basic AR that I can upgrade later when I get more money.

I bought a Mega Lower to start things off and now I need to look into lower parts kits. I would like to get something nice without breaking the bank. I have heard mixed things about DPMS so I am just going to stay away from them. I know some of you will say that they are fine and whatnot but I don't really care because I have seen enough to keep me away.

Other than DPMS what lower parts kit's would you guys recommend and could you tell me why?

Thanks a lot from an AR noob.

I have used DPMS Lower Parts Kits on at least 3 of my rifles. I haven't had a problem at all. But, if you want to stay away from DPMS, I have used kits from Del-Ton on 3 rifles, and no problems were encountered. Lowers are usually Stag, but 2 DPMS and 1 Rock River, no issues.

I have used 5 DPMS LPK and had 2 missing parts but the good news is DPMS sent out Replacements within 1 day of me calling. I hope they have better QC now . but the parts used are perfect. no problems in all my builds. :D

When I ordered my Del-Ton midlength kit and Doublestar lower, I ordered the kit with the Rock River Arms 2-stage trigger group. Much smoother pull than the stock trigger group on other guns I've tried, with a nice crisp letoff. Only added something like $45 to the price of the kit. I think they cost around $75 on their own. It was worth it, IMO.

Good luck with your build!
