I was reading about Lyman's new chamfering tool on their website. They're claiming (see below) that the 22 degree angle of their tool makes for better bullet seating. I'm wondering if anyone's using this tool, and especially interested in whether this offers any improvement with cast bullets.

Lyman’s new VLD Chamfer/Reamer eliminates damage to bullets caused by the sharp edges of the cartridge case neck. The long boat tail on VLD bullets are cut by the case mouth when chamfered with a standard 45 degree reamer. The sharp 22 degrees on the VLD reamer allows all bullets to slip easily into the case ensuring the best accuracy.

I'v been using the Lyman tool for a few yrs now. I was having a problem with the case mouth shaving copper from VLD type bullets and it solved that problem. I'm using it for everything(cast also) now,as bullets seat smoother with no "catch" as they'r entering the mouth. You can get the tools with varying degrees of taper,Wilsons or Hollands is 15,and K&M has a 4 degree tool. I really haven't noticed any big increases in accuracy, but it could be improving concentricity.Worth the $7-$8!

Thanks. I'm currently using the Lyman M expanders for cast bullets. I got an order from Midway that accidentally (my fault, forgot to double check the shopping cart) included the Lyman power case prep parts that includes the 22 degree trimmer and am trying to figure out whether to return it.

I am leaning toward returning it, because the M expander seems to prevent shaving of cast bullets, but am trying to figure out whether I should keep it.
