M1 Carbine Value?

I've got a Universal Arms M1 Carbine in very good to excellent condition, this is a civilian model that has the perforated metal fore guard instead of wood. I am wanting to trade and was wondering about the value, I've heard some very different figures from friends.

What Gezzer said. $300 to $400 is a good range. The earlier guns with one recoil spring are more desirable. The exact price depends on condition and how badly the other guy wants the gun. You *might* be able to get as much as $450 for it if the buyer is motivated and the gun is really nice looking.

You would do better trying to sell it to an individual.

I see them at gun shows for $300.
A dealer will give you nothing for it. I'd be surprised if you found a dealer that would give you $150 in a trade.
