M1 Garand Scope Mounts

Hello everyone! I have been looking at getting an M1 Garand for quite some time, and have just in the last month recieved one as a wedding gift.

I have been looking around for scope mounts, and being they have to be special because of the way the M1 discharges spent cartrages, I have found them to be very expensive.

What I would like, if anyone has one, or the means to look at one for some time, is measurements and such to be able to build my own, I work in a metal shop, so resources is not a problem, but I just need measurements and possibly an accompanying picture, thank you for your help!

what mounts have you found at what prices?

I have a Garand I had, well, lets just say a little work done on......... and Id like to scope it.

one website in the US that i found was selling them at around $120 american, and while that may not be expensive to some, it is when I have the means and equiptment to make them if only I had the measurements ect....

I have a garand also and nothing I see do I want.the clip prohibits over the bore mounting and side mounting is horrible.
weaver mad a swing over which I have for othe guns and if you could adapt that to mount on side and be over the bore it might work.you would need to have it so clip could be flung away.
