Gentlemen,
The answer to this quiz is as follows:
On March 5, 1941 a Letter was received from the Hq. USMC adopting the M1 Garand Rifle. This was after testing done at San Diego, Ca. from Nov. 12 thru Dec. 21, 1940. I hope you had fun with this one.

Didn't reply - didn't see it until today - and didn't know the answer.

But I love my CMP Garands and take them to the range regularly. And I shoot the Springfiled - first one I got - in the Garand Match whenever our club holds one. Next one May 29th, Sunday.

Interesting!! When did the first Garands get into the hands of Marines?? I have an April 1941 Springfield Garand and I was curious if it may have wound up in USMC service.
