I just bought one of these knives and was wondering how well it holds up. It seems to be of very good quality. Also, how do I "de-horn" the knife? Thanks

I've read about people grinding down the flippers and tud, but how much do I grind it down? Thanks

I've got the M16-14SF and I love it. Fits perfectly in my meaty hands...

Don't grind the flippers, man. They're there for a reason.
Your money, your choice I guess...

On another note, I bought 2 of the M16s right after the design was released. They all held up well for about a year's worth of heavy use. My first problem was the M16-14MIL. I think a dime or somesuch got wedged up into the handle and chiped the tip of the blade. At about the same time, my M16-04's (04 meant straight edge, 14 means serrated/straight) got weak and closed on my hand. The blade missed but the flipper took a good sized chunk out of my palm.

Called Columbia River and told them of my problem, their only response was, "send 'em in." CRKT decided to replace my knives and since the M16-04 was no longer produced, I got the 14SF. They charged me a little more but I'm still pleased. :)

Be careful, a CRKT M16 liner lock will fail with relatively low pressure.

I love the M-16 design. I would never grind down the flipper either...it allows for extremely fast deployment.

As far as the liner lock, as long as the LAWKS system is deployed there's close to zero chance of the liner lock failing. I have a Crawford/Kasper folder with LAWKS and it practically becomes a fixed blade when LAWKS is engaged.
