The thread on M9 contractor magazine reliability inspires me to ask if there were any crappy government contractor mags for the M1911. All the mags I have used were WWII contractor and all completely reliable. I have seen post WWII M1911 mags that had unmarked pinned bases or welded bases, and late issue mags with assembly number and cage numbers on the bases.
Manufacturer IM291 made mags with both crimped (19200) and welded (19204) bases, both with assembly number 5508694.
Anybody have a list of post WWII manufacturers and any advice on which to avoid?
