How do you pillar bed a Mauser? The receiver is flat bottomed and directly contacts the trigger guard in the front and uses a bolt "sleeve" at the rear. I only glass bed the front of the receiver in the recoil lug area. I usually start out free-floating the barrel but a pressure bed is sometimes necessary for best accuracy. I have even full bedded barrels with good results.
Here's what my M48 custom rifle did on it's first trip to the range. This was just after I got through sighting in the scope. Factory ammo and it only had 20-25 rounds through the barrel before it grouped this. The little "flyer" is my fault...I pulled.
