I'm thinking of making my own gas block as they seem to be fairly simple devices. Something like the YHM low profile model.

I don't know what the internals look like though. How do you affix it to the barrel? How do you ensure a good seal on the barrel? Do you just come at it from below to drill the gas port, and then use the hole on the bottom as a pilot for a threaded hole for a set screw?

Anyone have any dimensioned drawings of an AR-15 gas block?

Here's a pic from a Pro/Engineer model I made. I just mimicked the YHM Low Profile gas block. Now I just need to know where to put the gas tube hole, how deep, and how the rest of the internals work.

Anyone?

Interesting files, but I don't see a gas block in there. Is there something I'm missing? It just looks like the lower (which is cool, thanks:))
