I've been reading, practicing, reading, thinking, etc. with handloading for a while now and this morning I loaded up my first batches of ammo. 20 rounds of 45 Colt with 6.4 grains of Universal with 200 grain lead RNFP bullets. Also loaded 20 rounds of 30 Carbine with 12.8 grains of H110 with 110 grain jacketed soft point bullets.

After lunch I headed to the range and tested away. I fired some factory rounds first and then fired my handloads. Fortunately, no kaboom or signs of overpressure. My loads seemed a little anemic compared to the factory loads. I started with the suggested starting loads from my loading manuals.

A big thanks to all of you who collectively provide such an awesome resource (this forum) that's invaluable to those of us who are learning.

Those first reloads are nerveracking wife wouldn't get near me when I shot the first few.

You just got lucky :D
As you get better at it, you will get your loads just the way you want them, then it really gets fun. Good job

Congrats on not blowing anything up with your first couple of batches. It is a great feeling to fire those home-rolled rounds, isn't it?

i remember shooting my 1st reloads, very frightening, exciting then satisfying

Congrats on your first reloads. Just a matter of fine tuning at this point.
