I just replaced mag springs in a 9mm made in 1988 - bought used but I assume they were never changed.
I paid attention when dissembling the original and noticed the narrower end of the spring was on the bottom. On my 3rd mag I noticed that I had done a 180 turn, i.e. the rounded part of the spring and the open part were opposite on the completed replacements from the way the factory had it. I did keep the narrower end of the spring at the bottom of the mag.
Does anyone know if that makes a difference?
Please say no because this little spring replacing was one of the most heinous things I have done in a long time. No wonder folks don't replace mag springs more often! (Springs were flyin, I was cussin ... :banghead: thank God I wear safety glasses and know to never have the thing pointing towards my head or body)
