I am getting 100% function with radway green and federal 150 gr. Fusion through my SW mp10 rifle but new production magtech CBC m80 turns it into a single shot. Stovepipe on almost every round when it does eject fails to pick up a new round. Seems like short stroking. Does anyone know the specs on this ammo which might explain this. Thoughts?

I don't have that exact rifle, but have had the identical experience on a Colt 901. Problem fixed by switching ammo brands to Federal. I'm guessing the Magtech is either weak generally or uses a fast burning powder that results in relatively low gas pressure at the port. Incidentally I've also found some of the Magtech to cause sticky extraction (bolt lift) in a Savage bolt-action .308, which suggests to me that its brass might be a bit on the long or soft end of things (there were no problems with chambering, so I doubt it's oversized in diameter).

My experience with the CBC (the brazilian, as it is locally known) FMJ (probably the equivalent of the M80) and Match, both in .308 Win caliber, have been tremendously horrible. Only difference I saw was that the Match had lower muzzle velocity, spread in the muzzle velocity and group sizes was the same (I used the same gun for all instances), both for me and some other professional shooters I had at hand at the moment.

Examples:
  • Bullet weights and shapes are not uniform;
  • Muzzle velocity was about +- 35-50 m/s from the average;
  • Accuracy at 100 m was 4 moa (even for match ammo), the rifle we had was a scoped M14 with known accuracy of 1 MOA with good ammo. At 300 meters not every shot went into 50x50 cm target. It was the same for several very good shooters who do know how to run the M14;
  • A .308 Win caliber precision bolt-gun did not chamber the Match ammo, I mean the bolt did not close even with slight application of force, and the gun does not have a chamber for a specific cartridge. There has been no problem whatsoever with actual M80 or Lapua .308 ammo;
  • When we pulled one bullet off the Match ammo, the bullet was seated with tar, probably for long stock-life. But the tar on bullet affects accuracy.

I personally would steer clear from all rifle ammunition from that company, the CBC. Pistol ammo has not been that bad, quite OK actually, but my first impressions with the .308 have ruined the rest for me for some time.

Edit: IIRC the v0 was lower than LC M80 by several dozens of meters per second, with the 22´ M14, but the rifle does handle the Lapua ammo (which some are below 800 m/s) well. No short stroking with any other ammo I have used so far.

Well... Range fodder it is then! Now then how to remove those pesky primer crimps so I can reload the brass...

I tried running the Magtech m80 in my Rem 700. The bolt closed fine, but i had a hell of a time getting the bolt open. After 4 shots, i stopped shooting it. The Magtech neck crimps were huge. That is where i was seeing some issues. I won't buy any more of it.

I've had Zero problems with recent commercial Magtech, FWIW.

A large philips bit in a drill will turn out any large primer crimp/stake, FYI. I recently did a couple hundred that way.
