I am looking for a scope that will assist me in hitting bullseye at 100 yds. I am very accurate at 25 yds with the irons, but anything over 50 yds is hard on my eyes (gettin old). Have to shoot the .22 more often due to the price of ammo.

I thought a scope or sight would be a good idea.

I only use it for indoor and outdoor target mostly.

I do not have a ton of cash (like who does, right) and want to find something in the $75 - $100 range. I know I know, you get what you pay for, but still, someone has to make something worth while.

Looked at the barska Barska 2X30 Red Dot Scope AC11090 and the bushnell trophy so far. I know 2X is probably max for holding a handgun and hitting anything.

Do I actually want a scope or a dot sight?

I also did not want anything too large and if possible the option to use the irons without removing the scope (not a big deal but hey... why not ask for the world for 100 bucks )

I got lucky. Found an unfired, pre-owned but not actually used Mark II Target (now called Competition) stainless, with a Leupold 2X scope mounted on it, for a few bucks over the current price of the Mark III version.

I'd say, look through the scope. Look through it from various angles. If it distorts, get a differnt one. If it looks okay, buy it. It's not like this is a .454 Casull. A half-decent scope should hold up fine. Just make sure that you like what you see when you look through it.

I LOVE the Ruger pistol with the scope on it. It's fun, and I've been shooting after-work leagues with it.

My right eye has some astigmatism, so I have always been slightly limited in my ability to hit small faraway targets indoors. A 2X scope fixes that right up.:)

I am switching between a Red Dot and a Weaver 2x scope using Quick release scope ringsR/D for close range & scope long range.

i've got a BSA Edge Pistol Scope 2x20mm on mine. it has great eye relief and the glass looks pretty darn clear and bright to me! only $50 too.

you can call me an a-hole, but when i was looking through all the other more expensive scopes, i couldn't really see a difference that would make me want to spend $5 more for what i'm doing, let alone $100 - $300 more! i don't know how it would hold up on a larger calibur gun (it seems pretty sturdy), but on a .22, i know you'll be fine.

you can also buy rings that let you use the iron sights too. sorry, i don't have a link, but maybe someone else can help you out with that.

Thanks for the good ideas!

I like the option of having the red dot for close work and a 2X for 100yd work. The rings on the weaver mount sound like a plan, too!

I picked up a truglo red dot TG8040DC in camo for 43 bucks total on eBay. 1/2 the price, new in box. I only bought it because it was such a good price. Seems a bit bulky for my Mark III, but I am going to try it out anyway.

Now, all I have to do is figure out how much I can (and want) to spend on a 2x scope. I am really liking the look and size of the Bushnell Trophy!

Frandy that is a sweet rig

What model is that Bushnell trophy? I like the high ring setup on it and it looks like it fits real nice. I have been eye'in up the Bushnell 2 - 6 x 32mm Trophy Series Scope for Handguns, Matte Black Finish with Multi-X Reticle.

Does the fluted barrel in the new MK III Rugers give the gun a better balance?
