Anyone know anything about the Marlin 1985 lever action shotgun chambered in 2.5" 410? Cabella's seem to have a run of these in their advertising, but I don't see it on Marlin's site nor know anything more about it than what the Cabella's add says. Is the choke fixed or changeable? If fixed, which choke size is it?

I'm still not sure why I like lever action 410s, as it is a rather marginal caliber (and limited to 2.5" to boot). But maybe...

Marlin discontinued the Model 410 lever-action about three years ago I think.

Cabala's must have had a warehouse full of them they couldn't sell.

I believe they had a 22" Cyl bore fixed choke barrel.

It would be pretty cool to have one of those, its not something you see everyday. Ive heard they are pretty accurate with slugs, given the rifle sights and cylinder bore. Seem expensive though...I think cabelas wants around $500 for them according to the flyer I got in the mail the other day.

Hey I picked up a used one at a yard sale for $50 because some idiot had done a hatchet job on cutting the barrel down from 22" to 18.5". I haven't tried it out as of yet but I plan on using the .410 handgun ammo in it. It will be stored with a Bond 45/410 Derringer and used as an additional HD weapon.
