I noticed that quite a few of the responders to the "First Firearm" thread had listed a Marlin 22 bolt action rifle as their first firearm, either as a gift or first purchase. I myself have a Marlin Model 80 made in 1960 that is chambered in 22 short, long, and long rifle. I found it at a flea market around Shamokin, Pa on a Sunday morning while waiting for the outdoor range to open in amongst a bunch of toy rifles in a rack. Asked the guy at the table what he wanted for it, and long story short, took it to the range for $100...which was probably too much for it, but it was in excellent shape, and I wanted it that bad.

I was able to contact Marlin through snail mail to get a owners manual for it and to find out the date of manufacter... and had to go to Gun Parts to get two extra magazines.

Does anyone know of a good source of print on Marlin bolt actions ?
