I have a Marlin 25MN in .22 WMR. This happened a couple of years ago I ran across the rifle while helping my parents clean out their garage. We were at the gun range and it exploded in my face, luckily I was wearing eye protection. To get to the point will marlin fix the gun? I was using Winchester Super X ammo and I'm not sure if it was a hot round or what? But it bent the extractor ring where we couldn't even open the bolt. It split the wooden stock blew the magazine out and the little trim piece around the magazine well. We had been shooting fine all day. So we bought a new extractor and stock and got a different box of ammo(Still Winchester is was a 500 pack with the 50 round boxes and like I said before we hadn't had a problem before that one shell) and it did it again except this time it was a synthetic stock and it split towards the trigger guard.

Winchester has had recalls on the Dynapoint 22WMR and others- a Google search turns up several such items.

Maybe not the reason here, but symptoms seem similar to overcharged ammunition, which was one of the reasons for recall.

I contacted Marlin and they want me to take the gun to one of their Premier Service Centers. Luckily, There's one right here in Tulsa, so I'll be taking it in this week.

They never told me what the cause was they just repaired the rifle and gave it back to me. I took it out to the gun range this weekend and put 100 rounds of CCI maxi-mags through it and it ran flawlessly. My guess is it was an overcharged load but I honestly have no clue.
