Saw a Marlin lever in 32 sl today. Bet the barrel was 26 to 30 inches long. I know it is a rimfire in 32 cal. Does the sl stand for short and long shells? Any ideas what model it can be? The gun was in a case with a new model 39 in 22 lr and similarities in action hammer and trigger is quite close. The rifle is 90% or better and $2g's in price. Any help here too on price and year made would help. Where to find ammo? The gunsmith that has the rifle on consignment said they used to make a centerfire conversion for this gun. What am I looking for here, where can I find it,and what will it shoot then? I am not near my books so this not knowing bothers me. Bet this would be a fun gun in rimfire matches. Help. Have fun and bangaway.

forgot to put in the serial number. It is 93xxx.

Model 1892. Convertible to center-fire by changing firing pins. With CF pin, fires .32 Short Colt or .32 Long Colt. Neither the rimfire or the Colt cartridges are commonly available. 2K? I dinna think so. Mfg in early 1890's. Experts will have more info...

airedaleman thanks for info. Now I know its model and conversion to centerfire. I found indepth study on 32 long/short colt rifles. Heeled bullets are used and hard to find. I have wanted a r&r rifle (rook rifle). This one would be rare and spendy. I will hold it next Saturday at the shop for more study. Do I just turn the firing pin over around or replace for centerfire? Any ideas there? Ream the rifle to 32 s&w long is option. Have fun and bangaway.
