Marlin 925/925R wood/syn balance

I've read some reviews that say the 925 with the wood stock is more balanced than the 925R with the synthetic stock. Marlin's website lists them both at 5.5 lbs.

I would mostly be just shooting unsupported...no benches. Does anyone have experience with both? Can you tell a difference?
