Marlin Mdl 55 (pre-68)

Last week, I purchased a Marlin Mdl 55, pre-68 (no serial number, anywhere I can find) in 20ga. I absolutely love it. A previous owner had the barrel chopped to ~21" and threaded for chokes of an unknown pattern. It has a few issues I want to address, and a few "quality of life" issues I want to address.

1. Wallowed buttpad screw hole in buttstock
2. Improperly mounted sling swivel studs
3. Rust
4. Front bead

1. Regarding the wallowed screw hole, could I simply fill the hole w/ resin epoxy, then just run the screw back in and line up the butt-pad before the epoxy hardens ? I'm thinking to perhaps follow some advice I received, and drill the wallowed hole out to 1/4", seat a hardwood dowel, then re-drill the hole.

2. I intend to remove these. I've no need of them. Could I do similar to the old carpentry trick, and mix sawdust and epoxy to fill in the holes so they stain better ?

3. Light surface rust. How to remove it ? I've considered having my gunsmith cerakote this shotgun, because I absolutely love it. On the other hand, I've had a few friends recommend to just sand down the rise and rattle-can it. How would I go about doing this ?

4. Fiber optic vs tritium for replacing a threaded front bead ? This shotgun has a factory rear fixed sight. I want something "better" for what I intend to use this gun for- my "daily driver".

Thanks in advance THR. Y'all have never let me down yet.
