Folks,
I've had a 1979 Marlin 39A for over 25 years. During that time it has had a Bushnell Sportsview scope on (and off) it I bought the rifle with the scope mounted. I can find no other markings on the scope and I have never dug into it so I do not know what magnification it has or what the quality is. It has helped me pop many a woodchuck and rabbit and punched tight patterns in paper so I guess it works for me. However, I want to move the scope from the 39A to my Marlin 60 and here's where I really demonstate my ignorance.
The mount on the 39 is considerably wider than the one on the 60. Do I just need a different set of rings? The rings on the scope say Weaver 1" but I ASSume that is a diameter.. or not? Any suggestions here for scope rings on a 60?
The 39A may end up with peeps while I can (still) see well enough to use em. The 1894c seems fine with irons but ... you know if a skinner works out for the 39.....

You need to get a set of one inch scope diameter rings for a 3/8 inch grooved scope base. Most Walmarts will have some medium height rings that will do the trick. The Simmons aluminum rings will work good for that set up and cost about 5 bucks.

I have found that a scope upsets the balance and feel of an 1894 for me. The only option to irons, again for me, would be a red dot. Actually I like the stock sights on mine. I think I might just have a bias against scopes on leverguns.

Thanks!

Woof after all these years I'm starting to feel the same way and I think I'd be happier moving the scope to the 60

Found some 1" Weaver rings with 3/8" base at Walmart this afternoon and I'll put them on tomorrow.

Really appreciate the help.
