Maryland - Immediate Action Required - Anti-RKBA Bills on Fast Track

Some of the more outrageous Senate and House Bills attacking RKBA big-time are on the fast track for a hearing. First hearings scheduled Thursday the 27th of February.

It is suggested you go to www.direct-action.org and check the bills out yourself.

Then immediately contact the Senator or Delegate on the respective Judiciary committees and tell them which Bills you support and oppose.

For the Senate, Brian Frosh who is a true anti, is the Chairman.

This may be of some help. I went to the NRA Institute for Legal Affairs which is www.nra.ila.org.

It has a section that identifies Maryland Senate and House Judiciary Committee members. Has phone numbers and you can send e-mail or letter.

Look under "Write Your Representatives", then find Maryland State Legislature", and then look up the Judiciary Committees membership. Easy to do.

A clarification. Looks like according to Direct-Action that about three Senate Bills are scheduled for hearing on 02/27/2003. Most of the rest of the Senate and House Bills are scheduled for later, in March. A few have already had their first hearing.

Particulary hideous are SB 494 and HB 844 which basically bans most semi-automatics, and requires registration of existing semis with stiff penalties for non-compliance.
